Windone RM7 Electric Dirt Bike: Complete Review After 500 Miles
After spending three months with the Windone RM7 and clocking over 500 miles across dirt trails, gravel roads, and urban paths, we're ready to share our complete review.
First Impressions
The Windone RM7 arrives well-packaged and requires minimal assembly. The build quality immediately stands out — the aluminum alloy frame feels solid, and the welds are clean. At 95 lbs, it's not the lightest electric dirt bike on the market, but the weight contributes to stability at higher speeds.
Motor & Performance
The 3000W brushless hub motor is the star of the show. In Sport mode, the acceleration is genuinely thrilling. The bike reaches 50+ mph on flat terrain, and the torque delivery is instant. Hill climbing is impressive — we tested it on grades up to 25 degrees without any struggle.
In Eco mode, the bike settles into a comfortable 20 mph cruise, perfect for trail riding or extending your range. Normal mode strikes a good balance at around 35 mph.
Battery & Range
Windone claims 40-60 miles of range, and our testing largely confirms this:
- Eco mode: 52 miles average
- Normal mode: 38 miles average
- Sport mode: 28 miles average
Charging from empty to full takes about 5 hours. We recommend picking up a second battery if you plan on all-day adventures.
Ride Quality
The dual hydraulic suspension handles bumps and jumps admirably. The front fork absorbs impacts well, and the rear shock keeps the back wheel planted. On rougher terrain, you'll feel some vibration through the handlebars, but it's manageable.
The 20" x 4.0" fat tires are excellent. They grip well on dirt, gravel, and even sand. We wouldn't recommend mud riding in deep conditions, but for typical trail riding, they're more than capable.
Braking
The hydraulic disc brakes are a standout feature at this price point. Stopping power is strong and consistent, even in wet conditions. The front brake provides most of the stopping power, while the rear helps with control.
Build Quality
After 500 miles, the bike shows minimal wear. The frame has held up well, and the motor shows no signs of degradation. The LCD display remains clear and functional. Our only build quality note: the seat could use more padding for rides over 2 hours.
Verdict
The Windone RM7 delivers exceptional performance for its price. It's not perfect — it's heavy, the seat could be better, and charging takes a while. But for under $1,300, you're getting a capable, powerful electric dirt bike that handles real off-road conditions with confidence.
